“Coffee or tea,” an age old question which is somehow used to judge the overall personality of the person questioned. Although both are favorite wake up beverages for most people as both have almost the same energizing effect but both drinks also have huge differences. It is very common that we hear About Green Tea health benefits or Healthy Tea but there are hardly any known health benefits regarding coffee. But still coffee is much more favorable in younger people as it contains a higher Caffeine level to cope with their hectic lifestyles. Although it is simply no use comparing these totally different drinks but ‘coffee or tea’ is still a much prejudiced issue that people find interesting to talk or argue about. Here are a few interesting facts about coffee and tea dating back a thousand years ago.

The history Of Tea is more ancient than the history of coffee. It dates back to the ancient China 2737 BC, in the times when an Emperor was drinking a bowl of boiled water when the wind blew few leaves of tea right into his bowl. Watching the color change, the emperor could not resist taking a sip and was amazed at the taste and effect of the water. Similar stories from India and Tibet are also found in the historic records of almost the same time.

Long after that comes the first historical mention of coffee in the year 1400 AD when the sheep of a young Yemini shepherd became extra ordinary active and frisky after eating the berries from coffee plant. From Arab world, coffee slowly spread across the globe through traders and invaders. But it was in the 1950’s that American brands made coffee a very popular and hip drink.

Tea contains some essential vitamins and antioxidants such as vitamin C and E, catechin, fluoride and tannin. These ingredients prove to be healthy antioxidants and anticancer agents. But in highly processed types of teas the leaves lose their nutrients. Coffee contains a larger quantity of caffeine, amino acids, carbohydrates and other minerals. While tea is good at reducing bad cholesterol, coffee also prevents vascular congestion, major cause of heart attack. A high level of caffeine in coffee still has no proven adversity however it has proven benefits for migraine and asthma.

There are different types of teas with different strength, taste and effect. The difference is quite visible in the color of tea. You can find white, green, clack, and Oolong and fermented. While coffee can be brewed, instant, drip, espresso and decaf.

So conclusively, it is hard to say which one is better. Coffee is the world’s most traded drink but tea is still the most consumed one. The Tea is actually leaves of a plant while coffee is produced from the beans. Both the coffee and tea plants can grow into larger trees but are preferred to be kept short as it is easier to harvest that way. The effects and side effects of each continue to counter each other at every point. In the end one must say that it is a matter of lifestyle and more importantly a matter of taste.
