Has anyone taken Green Tea products while using zoloft?
My pharmacist just told me that I should not use any green tea products while taking zoloft becuase it could alter the effectiveness of the zoloft. I am wanting to do a 7 day colon cleanse and most of the ones I am looking at have green tea in it….I really do not see how using a colon cleanse for a short time would hurt while taking zoloft. I am only on 50mg…which is a low dose to begin with. Has anyone else heard this before? Has anyone else taken any sort of green tea products while using zoloft? I of course will check with my Doctor…but in the mean time have been trying to search it on the internet and so far every site that I go to that says “Do not use Green tea products while on antidepressants” makes you pay to find out why! Thanks
If your pharmacist said not to do it, don’t do it. They have access to a database that includes drug and supplement interactions, so there would be a negative interaction between them. You could ask your pharmacist what that interaction would be, but it would likely be some sort of chemical reaction in the body that could be very bad. If they don’t know or can’t tell you, you may have to see a doctor to find out why… but either way, I wouldn’t take them together.
Unfortunately, a lot of drugs interact negatively with supplements (some even react negatively to some basic vitamins or minerals), so it’s a good thing you asked your pharmacist first.
